• The Heat is on

    By Andy, filed under General

    Had a major panic yesterday.

Recently I got bored of moving files around from this machine to the other.. so I put everything on my laptop. I've also been using my laptop on the journey to work and back (on the tram), an easy way to gain 2 useful hours, which would otherwise be spent licking the window.

However, when I tried to check my mails yesterday evening I found...

  • The pope has been and gone

By Andy, filed under General, News

The pope has been in town this weekend, and like most locals, we took the opportunitiy to escape to the hills.

On Friday I chose not able to go to work as traffic was 'amusing' at best, and for the whole weekend mobile phones have been disabled (or so I'm told, I didn't go into town to check).

Back to life as normal on Monday...

  • All Change

By Andy, filed under General, News

I haven't had much time to write in my blog, and perhaps that won't be something that changes - but I hope it is :).

Today was the first day in a new job, for the past few months I've been working in a small graphic arts company which has been an interesting experience and from which I have learnt some useful things and (hopefully) left my mark.

  • Authentication

By Andy, filed under NoswaD, Pictures

After a number of people reported that they couldn't see the pictures in the gallery (something IE specific that I can't reproduce) I thought I would update the gallery.

The update is pseudo complete, restructuring the files a little, adding a method "ServeImage" to the Gallery controller (which is a simple pass through for the image file) and I've begun fiddling with...

  • i18n Again

By Andy, filed under CakePHP, Tools, i18n

I've updated the Locale Package again, only some minor changes superficially, but with a significant performance improvement and adding a check for true static pages (those handled by the pages controller).

The todo list for the locale package is quite short:

    • Add gettext support
    • Add DB option
    • Provide means of chosing which method of storage/retrieval...

  • Gallery & DownloadMe Function

By Andy, filed under NoswaD, Pictures

We are back from Marocco, and I thought that was a reasonable excuse to add a gallery to my site. I tried the one from the cake wiki, but found it a bit difficult to understand, so here's a real simple picture gallery.

I also thought I should get around to adding the download function while I was at it. This function will download the files which are currently in use, ...

  • Morocco

By Andy, filed under General, News, Holiday

Tomorrow, we're off for a week in Morocco.

I hope that I don't need to 18 toilet rolls that we are taking with us.
